Delegations from Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan will meet in Baku from May 26-27 to discuss a railroad project, linking Asia with Europe.

The troika is scheduled to discuss the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), Georgian website quoted an Azerbaijani Railways official as saying.

The delegations will also discuss the construction of the Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway section between

Meanwhile, a railroad linking Russia and Iran via Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will open in December 2011, Gurbanmyrat Begmuradov, Chairman of Turkmenistan's state-owned Halkbank, said at the annual meeting of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Kiev.

The line will start transporting up to 5m tons of goods per year, said Begmuradov, adding: "In the long term, this figure is expected to rise to 10-12m tons annually."
