CIS Railways Cargo Traffic up 3.3% in 2007

June 2008.

The railway network of the CIS countries delivered about 2.200 billion tonnes of cargoes in 2007 (+3.3%). The highest growth was achieved at the railways of such countries as Uzbekistan (+17%), Belarus (+6.1%), Ukraine (+4.2%), Kazakhstan (+3.7%) and Russia (+2.5%). The highest growth was achieved in the traffic of such cargoes as coke (+10%), cement (+8.7%), ferrous metals (+5.2%), construction cargo (+5.1%), containerized cargo (+7%), as well as industrial raw materials (+10.1%), machines and equipment (+12.4%). The average daily loading of containers totaled 5630 units in 2007 (+1.9%), including high-cube containers - 2610 units (+8.2%).
